Chimney, Woodstove, & Fireplace Check

By in Uncategorized with 0 Comments

Sweep the chimney, clean the blower if you have one, and check the batteries in your smoke and CO detectors. The less creosote build up that’s in a chimney, the less damage there will be. Burn a couple sheets of paper in the fireplace, to warm up the flue, prior to building a fire. This prevents any smoke at the start-up and can help prevent damage in your flue. Use seasoned, dry wood, and make sure a type of screen or ember protection is in front of the fireplace. Have your chimney “sweeped” to remove flammable material in a chimney and prevent smoke from coming into the house. Most of the time, the fire is contained inside the flue, but there are times that it extends into the home and becomes a structure fire. To avoid a potential fire, have your flue inspected and cleaned every year.
