Kwikset now manufacturers products with antimicrobial coating that prevents the growth of bacteria. The antimicrobial protection is to be for the lifetime of the products, even when used in high-traffic areas like bedrooms and bathrooms. Kwikset’s website says bacteria on unprotected surfaces can double every 20 minutes, but the company asserts its antimicrobial coating on its door hardware will never wash off and will continuously fight off germs.
